Welcome to the first of the week-long daily blog hops being hosted by Crunchy Frugalista and Money Savvy Michelle! We’re so excited to start offering these hops and hope everyone has a blast meeting new blogging friends. Make sure you come back each day as we’ll feature a new network or theme! Each day’s hop will be open for a week to make sure everyone has enough time to follow each other.
Today’s blog hop is Make Your Rank Lower Monday and is directed toward making your Alexa rank lower. If you’re a blogger and aren’t really sure what Alexa rating is about, take note, especially if you plan on being PR friendly and/or selling ad space!
In a nut shell, Alexa ratings are based on how many people, with the Alexa Toolbar installed, visit your blog and how many pages they look at. If you want more details, you can visit this page at Alexa. If you’re wanting PR and advertising sponsors on your blog, they are most likely going to want to know what your Alexa rating is, and the lower the better. This is where our blog hop comes in to help!
While not required, we’d love it if you could make a short blog post telling others about our blog hop. After all, the more people involved, the lower all of our ranks get!
To Participate:
- Make sure you have the Alexa Toolbar installed. Don’t worry, this isn’t some huge toolbar that will take up half your screen. It’s just a small icon.
- Visit your co-hosts at Crunchy Frugalista and Money Savvy Michelle and leave a comment telling us that you’re visiting from our blog hop along with a link to your blog. We’ll be sure to return the love!
- Leave a link to your blog in the linky below. Please don’t link to giveaways, Facebook, etc. We’ll have a linky for those featured later in the week! Family-friendly only please.
- Visit as many other blogs as you can. Be sure to leave them a comment saying you’re visiting from a blog hop and a link to your blog so they can return the favor! Remember, while this is optional, the more blogs you visit, the more people will visit your own blog, and the lower your rank will go!

Stamp Out Hunger is a nationwide food drive. It’s one of my favorites–because your postman will pick up the donations from your home on that day. Doesn’t get any easier than that! For New Jersey Residents: Here are some free and/or inexpensive family activities for this weekend.
Saturday, May 7: Fishing Derby at the Grover Cleaveland Park in Caldwell-Essex Fells, NJ. Bring a fishing pole, bait, and a bucket and try to catch your own fish! Registration begins at 8am, derby begins at 9am. This event is free. Click here to find out more.
Saturday, May 7: Kite Day at Terhune Orchards. Bring your own kite, buy one in the store, or make your own and test it in the wide open pasture. There will also be music, wagon rides and activities for the whole family. 10am – 5pm. This event is free. Click here to find out more.
Saturday, May 7: Super Science Saturday at New Jersey State Museum Bring the entire family for a day of hands-on learning and fun. Explore the many fields of science with more than 20 exhibitors representing astronomy to zoology and everything in between. Encounter new worlds beyond our galaxy in the Planetarium. Our resident Dinosaur Hunters will also be there to share their most recent discoveries. 11:00am – 4:00pm. This Event is Free!
Saturday, May 7: Spring Fling and Rescue Pet Fashion Show in Princeton. This event features pony rides, a petting zoo, paintable birdhouses, flower pots, Sparkles the Clown, and a Rescue Pet Fashion Show with adoptable dogs. 11am – 3pm. This event is free. Click here to find out more.
